Untitled III

You destroy me as I sit here
Lost and alone, engulfed in this fear.
I’ve tried to scream, but no one heard my cries.
I’ve tried to shed tears, but my eyes are dry.
Your eyes, they tell me that you really do care
And yet you have never ever been there.
My pain has gone unnoticed for so long,
Though it is what, in a way, keeps me strong.
You twist my words until they’re no longer mine.
So I retreat to a place where the sun cannot shine.
My body is here, but my soul is gone.
My eyes are like shades that have for now been drawn.
So as I’m here, I walk as a drone
Until someone can show me the way home.
Written in 2004, this is another old piece. I know exactly why I wrote this one as well and who it pertains to. Unfortunately, I write a lot of my poetry when I'm feeling dark and helpless, and this was written during what I consider to be my darkest times.

Unfortunately, written about a former friend.

Dark moods leave a lasting impression, so it makes sense that one would write poignantly at such times.
This has a lot of depth to it. Well done.
